La Laguna, Heart of Tenerife

Upon the arrival of your cruise, the guide will be waiting for you at the port with the Shore2Shore identification sign.

We will begin our excursion heading towards San Cristóbal de La Laguna, one of the cities with the greatest historical and cultural importance in the Canary Islands and the former capital of Tenerife.

La Laguna, declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site, preserves its historic urban layout, with streets, squares, churches, and manor houses that allow us to discover the city’s evolution from its origins.

We will take a tour through its charming historic center, where we will visit some of its most emblematic places, such as the Plaza del Adelantado, the Cathedral of La Laguna, the Church of the Conception, and the traditional manor houses that characterize the city’s architecture.

We will also visit the La Laguna Municipal Market, a space that reflects the daily life of its inhabitants and keeps many local traditions and customs alive. An excellent opportunity to get to know up close the products and flavors of Tenerife.

Our tour will also take us to the Royal Sanctuary of the Holy Christ of La Laguna, one of the island’s main places of devotion and home to one of the most venerated religious images in Tenerife.

We will also learn about the city’s important university character. The University of La Laguna, one of the most historic academic institutions in the Canary Islands, is an essential part of the city’s identity and contributes to the young and cultural atmosphere felt in its streets.

We will have free time to enjoy the atmosphere of its streets, shops, and traditional establishments. During this time, you can try some of La Laguna’s most characteristic flavors, such as the traditional lagunero, a typical sweet of the city, or the well-known barraquito, one of Tenerife’s most popular drinks, traditionally made with coffee, condensed milk, milk, cinnamon, lemon, and liqueur.

At the end of our visit, we will return to the Port of Santa Cruz de Tenerife for the farewell.
