What you'll do

Upon arrival of your cruise, our guide will be waiting for you at the port, identified with the Shore2Shore sign.

Liverpool is located in the Northwest of England, founded as a fishing village in 1207 and held that status until 1880 when it was granted city status, becoming the second most important city of the Empire. In the 18th century, trade with the West Indies and Continental Europe promoted the economic expansion of the city. At the beginning of the 19th century, 40% of the world’s maritime trade passed through Liverpool’s docks, and today it is the second port in the United Kingdom in terms of export volume.

Its inhabitants and merchants wisely invested the wealth generated by the port and over time have created the most beautiful city outside London. Nowadays, it impresses with its famous buildings of great architectural significance.

In 2004, several areas throughout the city center were declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site; among them stand out the Pier Head, Albert Dock, Liverpool Town Hall, and St. George’s Hall, one of the emblems of the city’s architectural heritage. The popularity of The Beatles and the football team Liverpool Football Club helped turn Liverpool into a tourist destination.

During your excursion, we will see the following:

  • The iconic waterfront buildings, Port of Liverpool, Cunard and Liver, and the new Beatles statues.
  • We will visit the two cathedrals exterior (optional interior visit): the Anglican one in neo-Gothic style, which is the fifth tallest cathedral in the world; and the Catholic one, unique for its circular floor plan instead of the traditional cross shape.
  • The Royal Albert Dock Liverpool, with its historic docks where, during your free time, you can visit the Tate Gallery, Maritime & International Slavery Museum.
  • A short walk along Mathew Street and a visit to the Cavern Club where the Beatles played in 1962.
  • The impressive central library and the Victorian round reading room in the heart of the World Heritage Site.
  • The schools and colleges attended by The Beatles.
  • China Town and the new outdoor shopping and leisure area called Liverpool One.
  • Penny Lane, made famous by the song written by the Beatles.

Return to the port and farewell.
