Visit to Belfast and Giant's Causeway

Shore excursion from port of Belfast, United Kingdom

  • Duration 8h
  • Activity level low

What you'll do

Arrival at the port and disembarkation from your cruise. Our guide will be waiting, identified with the Shore2Shore sign.

Departure towards Giant’s Causeway, the Giant’s Causeway. This area of hexagonal columns, made up of about 40,000 basalt columns, was formed around 60 million years ago by the cooling of volcanic lava.

Discovered in 1693, it was declared a World Heritage Site in 1986 and according to an Irish legend, it was formed by the firm steps of a giant. The visit will be conducted with our guide.

The Giant’s Causeway’s main tourist attraction is its natural landscape, with its basalt columns, cliffs, and the opportunity to observe many bird species.

We continue towards Belfast, a city surrounded by hills, sea, lakes, and valleys. Belfast is the capital and largest city of Northern Ireland. During the panoramic city tour, we will pass by the magnificent City Hall, built around 1906 and currently dominating the city’s commercial area. It is perhaps the most well-known and representative building of the city, constructed to celebrate Belfast’s designation as a “City” by Queen Victoria in 1888, notable for its towers, its 53-meter dome, and its landscaped surroundings. Nearby is Queen’s University with its brickwork of the Tudor Cloister.

We will have free time for lunch and some shopping.

At the end of the excursion, return to the port and farewell.
