Stockholm Vikings and market

Our tour begins at the cruise terminal, where our Shore2Shore guide will be waiting for you with their identification sign. We will settle into a comfortable coach to head towards the charming city of Stockholm.

We will start our visit at the National History Museum, where we will explore the fascinating exhibition titled “The Viking World”. Through this display, we will discover the culture, society, craftsmanship, travels, and mythology of the Vikings. The collection includes original objects that, along with our guide’s explanations, will transport us to Sweden a thousand years ago. We will admire runestones and decorated steles, such as the famous “Tjäŋgvide Stone”, which depicts the eight-legged horse Sleipnir carrying the chief god, Odin.

We will also visit the impressive “Golden Hall”, which houses 52 kilos of gold and 200 kilos of silver transformed into authentic masterpieces of goldsmithing, like the necklaces from the 5th and 6th centuries, belonging to the period of the great migrations.

We will continue our tour through the elegant Östermalm neighborhood, where we will visit the renovated Östermalmshallen Market. Opened in 1888 and recently remodeled, this iconic market offers the best of local gastronomy: select meats, fresh fish, artisanal cheeses, chocolates, and delicious dishes ready to enjoy on site or take away.

Next, we will head to the heart of Stockholm, where you will have free time to explore at your own pace. You can discover some of the most beautiful metro stations in the world, visit other points of interest, or simply relax on a terrace, enjoy a coffee, and soak up the atmosphere of this vibrant city.

At the end of the day, our coach and guide will be waiting for you at the meeting point at the agreed time (being punctual is important!) to comfortably return to the port.

• If the cruise arrives at Stadsgården and not Stockholm, the distance to the city center is greater and the duration of free time may vary.

• People with reduced mobility who use wheelchairs must be accompanied by another person who can assist them. We kindly ask that foldable wheelchairs be used, as buses do not have lifts or ramps.
