What you'll do
Upon arrival at the port, our Shore2Shore guide, identified by their sign, will be waiting to accompany you on this fascinating visit to Visby, the capital of the island of Gotland.
Considered one of the best-preserved medieval towns in Scandinavia, Visby captivates with its Viking history, Hanseatic heritage, and contemporary charm full of parks, gardens, and flowers. It is no wonder it is known as the "city of roses and ruins". Due to its historical and cultural richness, it was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1995.
We will begin our tour at the old Hanseatic port, now transformed into the charming Almedalen Park, from where we will enjoy a spectacular panoramic view of the city.
We will continue along the picturesque Strandgatan, where we can admire the characteristic medieval two-pitched roof warehouses that reflect Visby’s prosperous commercial past.
Next, we will pass by Kruttornet or "The Powder Tower", the oldest building preserved in the city, a silent witness to centuries of history.
We will climb through the narrow cobblestone alleys until we reach the beautiful Botanical Gardens, an oasis of calm that combines nature and historic architecture.
We will visit the imposing Cathedral of Saint Mary, built by German merchants, and stroll through the evocative medieval ruins scattered throughout the city. We will cross its charming cobblestone streets, full of history and timeless beauty.
At the end of this unforgettable excursion, we will return to the port to say goodbye, hoping you have enjoyed this unique experience in Visby.
