What you'll do

Upon arrival of your cruise, the guide will be waiting for you at the port, identified with the Shore2Shore sign.

We will head north of the island to explore one of the most emblematic towns of Gran Canaria. Arucas, which is only 15 minutes from the capital, blends the hustle and bustle of a growing town with the typical tranquility of a suburban Canarian village. This is also evident in the mix of architectural and artistic heritage with meadows, fields, and gardens. Arucas is also known as The City of Flowers, partly thanks to the Flower Park that we will visit up close.

As if entering an enchanted forest in the middle of the city, the beautiful gardens of the Arucas Municipal Park stand out. A little piece of nature where you can stroll peacefully to the rhythm of the water sounds from its irrigation channels, ponds, and fountains. It is surrounded by hundreds of tree and flower specimens from all continents, highlighting the presence of native species from the archipelago such as the Canarian palm, pine, and dragon tree.

Also, to find luck, you must not forget to visit its famous goblin who is hidden among the branches and trunks of the garden’s flora.

We will board the bus again to continue our journey towards the La Rekompensa Estate, a banana plantation farmhouse dating back to 1804. It houses an interpretation center that will serve as an introduction to banana culture. We will walk through the plantation and learn to differentiate up to 12 different types of banana plants.

After discovering all the secrets of this precious fruit, we will enter the shop of the World of the Banana Museum. There, we will enjoy a tasting of bananas and various products made from this raw material. You will be able to try jams, cakes, and even shots.

Continuing with our tour, we will visit the Vegueta neighborhood, venturing into its most central streets. We will admire its colonial-era buildings towards the San Antonio Abad Square, where a chapel commemorates Christopher Columbus’s passage through the island. We will continue through its alleys to the Santa Ana Square and, of course, admire the cathedral of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria.

When the day coincides, we will visit the first market hall built in the Canary Islands. The Central Market of Las Palmas or Vegueta Market, dating back to 1856, where we will delight in the vast selection of local fruits and vegetables… and breathe in the atmosphere and history of the place, where the excursion will conclude.

We will return to the port for the farewell.
