Shore excursion from port of Geiranger, Norway

  • Duration 6h
  • Activity level low

What you'll do

Upon arrival of your cruise, the guide will be waiting for you at the port, identified with the Shore2Shore sign.

The Geirangerfjord is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful fjords in Norway. Imposing slopes and numerous waterfalls make this landscape a unique place.

At the beginning of these 9 miles of fjord lies the small village of Geiranger, where we will start today's excursion. We will begin our tour leaving behind several hotels and houses, as well as the small octagonal wooden church dating back to 1842.

We will continue our journey along the Eagle Bend road and make a brief stop to admire some stunning views. We will stop at the cliff of the Flydal Gorge to take photos. We will enjoy the view of the Geiranger fjord, the Seven Sisters waterfalls, as well as the surrounding mountains. A perfect place to photograph this splendid setting.

We continue towards Djupvatn lake, located at 1,030 meters above sea level, usually covered with snow until late June and when ice-free it has an intense blue color. We head to the Jostedalsbreen Center where we will make a stop of approximately 30 minutes. We continue to the next stop in the village of Stryn, a picturesque typical mountain village. Here we find one of the best rivers in Norway for salmon fishing. We will have free time to have lunch and rest (approximate stop of one hour). On clear days, Mount Dalsnibba will be the backdrop of our magnificent excursion.

We will begin the descent enjoying the extraordinary beauty of the landscape until we reach the port of Geiranger again, where the excursion ends.
