Trolls Road

Shore excursion from port of Alesund, Norway

  • Duration 7h
  • Activity level medium

What you'll do

Upon arrival at the port, our guide will be waiting for you, identified with the Shore2Shore sign. Today we will explore the spectacular landscapes and unique architecture of Alesund, one of the gems of the northwest coast of Norway.

Alesund, rebuilt in Art Nouveau style after the 1904 fire, will surprise us with its architectural charm and its privileged location between fjords and mountains.

We will head towards the impressive Norddalsfjord, venturing into the magical valley of Valldal, famous for its fertile lands and delicious strawberries. From here, we will continue ascending majestic mountains with perpetual snow until reaching the summit of Trollstigen, located at 850 meters above sea level. Here we will enjoy a stop to capture the landscape with incredible photographs and, if you wish, you can relax in the panoramic café (consumptions not included).

We will begin the descent along the legendary Trollstigen road, known as the “Troll’s Ladder”, a marvel of Norwegian engineering that overcomes an elevation difference of almost 800 meters through tight curves and breathtaking views. During the journey, we will stop at the majestic Stigefossen waterfall and the imposing Trollwall, the highest vertical wall in Europe with its impressive 1,000 meters of height.

On the way back to Alesund, we will cross the picturesque Romsdalsfjord, enjoying its fairytale landscapes and charming Norwegian villages that adorn the coast.

At the end of this unique nature experience, we will return to the port to say goodbye with the memory of an unforgettable day in the land of trolls and fjords.

Thank you for joining us on this adventure with Shore2Shore!
