Old Briksdal Glacier

Shore excursion from port of Olden, Norway

  • Duration 4h
  • Activity level low

What you'll do

Upon the arrival of your cruise, our guide will be waiting for you at the port, identified with the Shore2Shore sign, to begin this unforgettable experience.

We will start our tour in the charming village of Olden, located on the coast of the Nordfjord. We will cross the village and follow the course of the Oldenelva River, famous for its salmon fishing, while enjoying the stunning views of Olden Lake, whose characteristic emerald green color comes from the waters originating from the glaciers.

We will continue towards the Briksdal valley, until we reach Briksdal Mountain Lodge, where an exciting walk of approximately 40 minutes will begin. This route, which runs alongside the river, will take us to the imposing Briksdal glacier, an arm of the majestic Jostedal glacier, the largest in continental Europe.

Along the way, you will be able to admire waterfalls cascading down the mountain slopes, culminating in a small lake decorated with ice stones. A unique opportunity to connect with nature in a dreamlike setting.

Before returning, you will have free time to explore the large souvenir shop, ideal for taking home a memento of this experience.

After descending through the Briksdal valley, we will return to Olden and then to the port, where this unforgettable excursion will conclude. We hope you enjoy it!
