Olden tour to Briksdal Glacier

Shore excursion from port of Olden, Norway

  • Duration 4h
  • Activity level low

What you'll do

Our Shore2Shore Excursions guide will meet you at the Port of Olden where we board an air-conditioned coach to take a guided tour.

The tour will start from the small town of Olden in Nordfjord coast. After passing through the village, we will continue along the river Oldenelva, famous for its salmon fishing and then continue along the coast of Lake Olden: its impressive color is due to the melting glacier water, making the characteristic emerald green color.

We will continue along the coast of this lake into the valley until Briskdal Mountain Lodge. The Briskdalsbreen is an arm of Jostedalsbreen, the largest glacier in continental Europe.

From Briskdal Mountain Lodge we will walk about 40 minutes and then get to the glacier. While walking to the glacier we will admire small waterfalls running down the sides of the mountain. The last part of the hike is in the direction of a small lake dotted with ice chips.

We will enjoy free time to do some shopping in the big shop for souvenirs before returning to Olden through the valley Briskdal.

For those who don’t want to walk, we offer Trollcars, that will bring you to the glacier arm with no effort! Please book them in advance while booking your tour.

We will then return to the Port of Olden so you can re-join your ship for onward passage to your next port of call.
