Briksdal Glacier from Nordfjordeid
Shore excursion from port of Nordfjordeid, Norway
- Duration 7h
- Activity level low
What you'll do
Upon disembarking from your cruise, our guide will welcome you at the port, identified by the Shore2Shore sign, to begin an excursion that will take you to discover glaciers, fjords, and dreamlike landscapes.
Our adventure begins in Eid, a small village north of the impressive Nordfjord. On the way to Olden, we will pass by Hornindalsvatnet Lake, known for being the deepest in Europe, with a depth of 514 meters.
We will continue through the Olden valley, a majestic setting that will lead us to Briksdal Mountain. From here, we will venture into the spectacular Briksdal glacier, one of the arms of the famous Jostedal glacier, the largest in continental Europe.
We will cross the picturesque village of Olden, following the course of the Oldenelva River, whose emerald green waters owe their color to the glacier meltwaters. The landscape will offer us stunning views as we skirt Olden Lake and enter the Briksdal valley until we reach the Briksdal Mountain Lodge.
From the lodge, we will begin a hike of approximately 40 minutes. The trail winds alongside the river, passing through an environment of waterfalls and mountains until reaching the glacier, where a small lake, dotted with ice fragments, awaits us as the final reward.
After enjoying the breathtaking views of the Briksdal glacier, you will have free time to rest, explore the area, or grab a bite to eat (not included in the price).
On our return to Eid, we will travel along the Nordfjord, passing through the charming villages of Stryn and Loen, enjoying the Norwegian landscape in all its splendor.
At the end of this unforgettable experience, we will return to the port to say goodbye.
Thank you for joining us on this adventure with Shore2Shore!
