Agadir history and Berber essence

Shore excursion from port of Agadir, Morocco

  • Duration 4h
  • Activity level low

What you'll do

After the arrival of your cruise, we will begin our excursion accompanied by our guide, identified by the Shore2Shore sign, to discover the charms of Agadir and its surroundings.

Agadir, whose name of Berber origin means "fortified village", is located in the southern region of Morocco. This modern city, with just 100,000 inhabitants, stands out for its privileged location surrounded by the Anti Atlas, the Sahara Desert, natural parks, and beautiful fine sandy beaches that have made it a renowned tourist destination. With more than 300 days of sunshine a year and 10 kilometers of wind-protected beaches, Agadir is ideal for enjoying perfect weather and unique landscapes.

Our tour will take us through its most notable neighborhoods. We will visit the center, where the colonial neighborhood Nuevo Talborjt is located, home to the beautiful Olhao Gardens and the Agadir Memory Museum, which commemorates the devastating 1960 earthquake.

We will continue along the main avenues, making a stop at the Amazigh Museum, which houses more than 900 exhibits related to Berber culture, including collector coins and its most emblematic jewel: the Massa necklace.

From the center, we will head to the port and enjoy spectacular views of the bay from the heights of the Kasbah, an ideal place to capture the visual essence of Agadir.

Finally, we will move to Inezgane, a lively city where the Berbers from the Sousse region conduct their commercial transactions. There we will explore its bustling market, famous for its souks, silver jewelry, and colorful food market.

At the end of the excursion, we will return to the port of Agadir for boarding.

We hope you enjoy this unique experience and thank you for choosing Shore2Shore!
