What you'll do
Welcome to your excursion! Upon arrival at the port, our Shore2Shore guide will greet you to begin this fascinating adventure.
Today we will explore the charming coastal towns of Kotor and Perast, two jewels of the Adriatic full of history, baroque architecture, and local legends. We will start with a boat ride from the dock heading towards Perast, a peaceful town famous for its 17th and 18th-century baroque buildings. During the trip, we will enjoy views of its emblematic palaces and monuments that tell the story of the prosperous sea captains who marked the town with their wealth.
In Perast, we will visit some of its most notable religious monuments, such as the Parish Church (1740) and the Church of St. George, dating back to the 12th century and located on a small islet in front of the town. We will also admire the Church of Sveti Nikola, built between the 15th and 17th centuries, a true architectural gem.
Next, we will board a motorboat to visit the famous islet of Gospa od Skrpjela or Our Lady of the Rocks, in the Bay of Kotor. This artificial islet houses a majestic baroque church that was rebuilt in 1622, although its original church dates back to 1452. Legend has it that a sailor, returning from a successful voyage, found a rock in the sea which, it is said, emerged to form the island. Inside, we can see more than 68 paintings from the 17th century, including the famous 10-meter-long work on the death of the Virgin, as well as impressive 15th-century Italian paintings.
After this visit, we will return to Kotor, where we will take a walking tour through the old town, surrounded by its imposing Venetian walls, which stretch for three miles and were built between the 15th and 18th centuries. These walls were designed to withstand prolonged attacks and protect the city.
We will conclude our tour with a visit to the Cathedral of St. Tryphon, a Romanesque church built in 1166. Inside, its square pillars and ancient-style columns stand out, separating the main nave from the side aisles, creating a solemn and majestic atmosphere.
At the end of this enriching excursion, we will return to the port for farewell.
We hope you have enjoyed this journey full of history, beauty, and legends of the Adriatic!
