What you'll do
Welcome to your excursion! Upon your arrival at the port, our Shore2Shore guide will greet you to begin this fascinating adventure.
Today we will explore the charming coastal cities of Kotor and Perast, two Adriatic gems full of history, baroque architecture, and local legends. We will begin with a boat ride from the pier toward Perast, a peaceful town famous for its 17th- and 18th-century baroque buildings. During the journey, we will enjoy views of its emblematic palaces and monuments, which reflect the history of the prosperous sea captains who left their mark on the city with their wealth.
In Perast, we will visit some of its most notable religious monuments, such as the Parish Church (1740) and the Church of Sv. Djordje, dating from the 12th century and located on a small islet opposite the town. We will also admire the Church of Sveti Nikola, built between the 15th and 17th centuries, an authentic architectural jewel.
We will then board a speedboat to visit the famous islet of Gospa od Skrpjela or Our Lady of the Rocks, located in the Bay of Kotor. This artificial islet is home to a magnificent baroque church rebuilt in 1622, although the original church dates back to 1452. According to legend, a sailor returned from a successful voyage and found a rock in the sea that is said to have emerged to form the island. Inside, we will see over 68 paintings from the 17th century, including the renowned 10-metre-long work depicting the death of the Virgin, as well as impressive Italian paintings from the 15th century.
After this visit, we will return to Kotor, where we will take a walking tour of the old town, surrounded by its imposing Venetian walls, which stretch for three miles and were built between the 15th and 18th centuries. These walls were designed to withstand prolonged attacks and protect the city.
We will end our tour with a visit to the Cathedral of St. Triphon, a Romanesque church built in 1166. Inside, you will notice its square pillars and ancient-style columns that separate the central nave from the side aisles, creating a solemn and majestic atmosphere.
At the end of this enriching excursion, we will return to the port for farewell.
We hope you enjoyed this journey filled with history, beauty, and Adriatic legends!
