  • Duration 3h

What you'll do

Upon arrival of your cruise, our guide will be waiting for you at the port, identified with the Shore2Shore sign, to begin a tour of the charms of Klaipeda, a port city full of history and tradition.

Located 315 kilometers from the capital, Klaipeda is the third largest city in Lithuania and the gateway to the impressive Curonian Spit. Our tour will focus on its charming old town, with the iconic Theater Square, dominated by the statue of Ann of Tharau, and its picturesque alleys that house cozy courtyards, art galleries, cafés, and small shops. The timber-framed buildings and old warehouses reflect the rich influence of Germanic architecture from the Hanseatic period.

We will also visit the neo-Gothic post office, the Theater Square, where the fountain and sculpture of Taravos Anike are located, and the University of Klaipeda, housed in a historic building that was once an administrative headquarters.

From the center, we will move south to explore the residential areas built during the Soviet era under the leadership of Nikita Khrushchev, an opportunity to learn about the architecture and lifestyle of that period.

During our visit, we will discover the amber craft workshops, where we will learn about the cutting, grinding, and baking process of Baltic amber, one of the region’s greatest treasures. This valuable mineral, 35 to 40 million years old, accounts for 80% of the world’s known amber and is renowned for its exceptional quality and beauty. We will have the opportunity to purchase beautiful jewelry or unique souvenirs.

Finally, we will stroll through the streets of Klaipeda, recalling its Germanic past as the former capital of Prussia. At the end of the excursion, we will return to the port to say goodbye.

Thank you for choosing Shore2Shore to discover the treasures of Klaipeda!
