Visit underground Naples and the Modern city

Our guide will meet you at the port of Naples.

The visit starts with a panoramic tour by bus through Naples, crossing the seafront to reach Posillipo, the highest point of Naples where you will enjoy the spectacular panorama on the Gulf of Naples and the Vesuvio.

Admire the main points of interest of the city, Lungomare Mergellina, Castel dell'Ovo, Maschio Angioino (Castel Nuovo), San Carlo Theater, Umberto Gallery, until Piazza Plebiscito, the most important square in the city where are the Basilica of San Francesco di Paola, the Royal Palace, the Palace of Salerno and the Palace of the Prefecture.

We will get off the bus to discover the city on foot walking through the historical center full of historical buildings, palaces and churches, banks, theaters, cafés and numerous shops of famous designers (bus not allowed to enter this part of the city).

Admire the Piazza del Gesu with the Church of the Gesu Nuovo (exterior), the Obelisk of the Immaculate and the Basilica of Santa Clara (exterior), the largest Gothic church in the city. Continuation through Piazza San Domenico and the church (exterior), Via Nilo and the Statue of the God Nile, San Gregorio Armeno, San Lorenzo Maggiore ...

Finally, we will visit the Naples Sotterranea (Naples Underground) to explore Naples from a different point of view, discovering the history and mysteries of the city. The 280 miles (450 kilometers) subterranean network was formed by the Greeks in the 4th century BCE.in order to build what was then named Neapolis, or "New City". Later, the Romans used the chambers and pathways to build aqueducts that provided water for many centuries to the Neapolitans. As the centuries passed, the current buildings were built on the old infrastructure and the remains were hidden in the depths of the city.

We will return on foot with our guide to the port of Naples (20 minutes approx.) passing through Via dei Tribunali and with a brief stop at the Basilica of San Paolo Maggiore (exterior).
