Visiting Pisa

Upon arrival of your cruise, our assistant will be waiting for you, identified with the Shore2Shore sign.

We begin our tour along the walls of the ancient city and religious center, the Square of Miracles, a UNESCO World Heritage site and renowned as one of the main centers of medieval art in the world. We will admire the famous monumental complex; the Cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta (the Duomo), the Baptistery of St. John the Baptist, the Monumental Cemetery, the Bell Tower and the famous Leaning Tower.

We continue our walk until we reach Via Santa Maria, an old artery that connected the Square of Miracles with the Arno River, from where we can see the Orphans' Hospital, the Ferdinandeo College, the Church of San Giorgio ai Tedeschi and Dei Mile street where the Church of San Sisto in Corte Vecchia is located.

Passing San Frediano street, we will see the old Romanesque Church and the old bell tower, from where the call was made to start university classes. The Palace of Sapienza, built by initiative of Lorenzo il Magnifico, and the Piazza Dante.

Along the Arno River, we find the Church of Santa Maria della Spina, the Palazzo Agostini Venerosi della Seta, the Palazzo Blu, and the Church of Santa Cristina, built in the 16th century. We continue our walk through Piazza Garibaldi until we reach the Casino of the Nobles and the Teatro dei Lungarni. From there, we will walk through the narrow streets of Borgo Stretto until we reach San Felice Square, from where we can admire the capitals depicting images of battles from the Hellenistic era. We continue towards Piazza dei Cavalieri di Santo Stefano with its Church and the Tower of Gualandi, where the famous Count Ugolino, one of the protagonists of Dante's Divine Comedy, died of starvation while imprisoned.

We end our tour passing through the Gualandi Arch and the Archiepiscopal Square until we return to the Square of Miracles where we will enjoy free time.

At the end of the excursion, we return to the port for the farewell.
