Underground Naples and Historic Center, Walking Tour

Discover the best of Naples on a comprehensive walking tour through the historic center, ideal for cruise passengers and visitors who want to experience the essence of the city in just a few hours.

We depart from the Maritime Station and will begin our tour walking towards Plaza Municipio with a brief introduction to the history of Naples and an explanation of the imposing Castel Nuovo (Maschio Angioino).
From Plaza Municipio, we will also see the Palacio San Giacomo, an 1800s building that houses the Naples City Hall (exterior visit).

We will continue along the elegant Galeria Umberto I until we reach the historic Teatro San Carlo, the Bourbon-era Naples Opera House.
From there, we will pass through Plaza del Plebiscito, the city's emblematic square, where we will admire the Royal Palace and the Basilica of San Francesco di Paola (exteriors). We will also pass in front of the famous Caffè Gambrinus, one of Italy's most important literary cafes.

The tour continues along Calle Toledo, one of the liveliest streets in the city, until we reach the Quartieri Spagnoli, where the famous Maradona Mural is located. Participants will have a short free time to approach the mural and take photos.

From here, we will head to Plaza del Jesus, the gateway to the historic center, where we will see the Church of Gesù Nuovo (interior) and learn about the curious legend behind its mysterious façade.

We will continue along Spaccanapoli, the street that cuts through the heart of the old city, passing by the Santa Chiara Complex (interior) and continuing along Calle San Sebastiano, known as the street of musical instruments.
We will arrive at Plaza Bellini, home to the historic Naples Conservatory of Music.

From here, the visit to Naples Underground will begin, a unique experience to discover the city beneath the surface among ancient tuff quarries, cisterns, and historic tunnels.

Once the Naples Underground visit is finished, we will continue our tour towards San Gregorio Armeno, famous for its artisan workshops producing figures for the Neapolitan nativity scene. We will take advantage of some free time to enjoy this street.

We will pass again through Spaccanapoli, passing by Piazza del Nilo with its statue of the god Nile and Piazza San Domenico Maggiore (exterior) until we reach Piazza del Gesù, where the tour ends.

Clients who wish may stay on their own in the historic center or return on foot to the port with their guide.
