When your cruise ship arrives at the port of Genoa, our guide will be waiting for you with a SHORE2SHORE sign to start the walking tour that will take you through the historic center of the city.

The tour begins at the Old Port, which dates back to the 16th century and is home to Genoa’s Aquarium.

We will continue the tour through the famous "Caruggi", narrow streets that arise between colored buildings will make you discover the charm of this Italian city. When turning a corner, you will magically see the imposing Cathedral of San Lorenzo (exterior visit). The Genoese cathedral is the most important temple in Genoa and will leave you astonished by its mix of architectural styles ranging from the 11th to the 20th century. A late 19th century restoration has improved the medieval parts that characterize the cathedral's current appearance.

We will continue our way to Piazza Ferrari, considered the commercial, economic and financial heart of Genoa. In the square, you will be able to see the monumental Bronze Fountain, the elegant "Carlo Felice" Opera House, the Doge's Palace, residence of the Governors of the Republic of the Sea and the Church of Jesus (outside visit).

The Genoa walking tour continues to Dante Square, to see the Casa di Colombo, known as the Birthplace of Christopher Columbus and the Soprana Gate, a medieval building representing one of the access gates to the city of Genoa.

Then we will reach one of the most emblematic places in Genoa: Via Garibaldi, formerly known as Strada Nuova (new street). On this famous street, rise the elegant palaces built five centuries ago. The palaces, history and cultural importance of Via Garibaldi are part of the reasons why it was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 2006.

The excursion for cruise passengers in Genoa ends with a stroll through the narrow streets of the city as we head back towards the Cruise Terminal, admiring the historic buildings, after a day full of art, history, culture and music from “Genova la Superba”.
