What you'll do
Upon arrival of your cruise, our guide will be waiting for you at the port, identified with the Shore2Shore sign, to accompany you on this enriching visit through the historic soul of Bari.
We will begin the tour through the narrow streets of Bari Vecchia, the historic neighborhood full of medieval charm and Romanesque architecture. From the Great Medieval Wall, we will enjoy stunning panoramic views before reaching the majestic Basilica of Saint Nicholas, a prominent center of religious pilgrimage since the 11th century and a gem of Romanesque style.
We will continue to the Old Norman-Swabian Castle, an imposing fortress commissioned by Roger II in 1130, whose history reflects Byzantine struggles and revolts. Along our walk, we will explore the picturesque Via Arco Basso, a typical alleyway of white houses and Mediterranean balconies, where even today it is possible to see local women skillfully preparing the traditional “orecchiette”, the emblematic pasta of the region.
We will conclude the excursion passing through the historic Mercantile Square, former seat of the Senate, where the Column of Justice, the Pineapple Fountain, the House of Niccolò Piccinni, and the elegant Customs Palace stand out.
After this unforgettable experience, we will return to the port to say goodbye.
