What you'll do

Upon arrival of your cruise, the guide will be waiting for you at the port, identified with the Shore2Shore sign.

We will begin with a visit to the island's most important archaeological site, Asclepion, one of the most significant sanctuaries of Ancient Greece, named in honor of the Greek god of medicine. The temple complex was once a refuge for Romans. Here, as indicated by inscriptions, was also the seat of the medical school founded by Hippocrates, where he practiced and developed many healing methods that are still used today.

After a short bus ride, we will stop at the Odeon, an ancient Roman theater discovered in 1929.

We will pass by the ruins of Nymphaeum and Xystus from the Hellenistic and Roman periods and head through the "Old Town" to Eleftheria Square, the island's central square, where the Archaeological Museum and the "Ágora" market with traditional products are located (we do not enter). There, we will have free time to have a coffee or go shopping.

Before the visit ends, we will stop at the Hippocrates Tree, under which the father of modern medicine taught his students, and we will be able to admire the medieval fortress of Neratzia Castle; the construction, built by the Knights of St. John of Jerusalem between the 14th and 15th centuries, is a huge fortress that protected the entire city.

Return to the port for farewell.
