La Palma Great Viewpoints

Shore excursion from port of La Goulette, Greece

  • Duration 5h
  • Activity level medium

What you'll do

Upon arrival of your cruise, the guide will be waiting for you at the port, identified with the Shore2Shore sign.

We begin the journey by venturing into the Laurisilva Forest as we ascend to the summit of La Palma, where at 1000 meters altitude we will find the Cumbre Tunnel that takes us, through the mountain, to the west of the island. We will experience firsthand the diversity of microclimates on the island as we travel to our first stop; the visitor center of the Caldera de Taburiente National Park.

Next, we will make a short trip to the Cumbrecita Viewpoint within the same National Park. Here we will enjoy the majesty of La Caldera de Taburiente; the most impressive natural monument that “La Isla Bonita” treasures, an immense natural amphitheater whose walls rise more than 2000 meters high and whose valley extends over 6 kilometers in diameter. A visual experience that often provokes long silences and leaves indelible marks in the memory of those who live it.

In case we cannot access La Cumbrecita due to weather or logistical circumstances, we will make a stop at the Royal Sanctuary of Las Nieves after the La Concepción Viewpoint.

The Llano del Jable Viewpoint will be our next stop, at 1341 meters above sea level, from where we will observe the vastness typical of a sea from the Aridane Valley, dominated in the background by the imposing silhouette of the old Montaña Quemada volcano. In contrast to the old Montaña Quemada, we will spot the recent traces of destruction and renewal left by the young Tajogaite Volcano.

On the way back to the port, we will cross the Cumbre de la Palma enjoying unique panoramic views until we reach our last stop, The Concepción Viewpoint located at the southern end of a crater declared a Natural Monument that offers unbeatable views of Santa Cruz de La Palma, the Marina and the Valley of Las Breñas.

At the end of the excursion, we will finish right next to the tourist information point.  This location will allow us to enjoy some extra free time in Santa Cruz de La Palma and take a brief tour of the city’s historic center. From there, each person can return at their own pace and easily reach the pier by following the blue line, as it is only a five-minute walk away and access is very simple.
