What you'll do

Upon arrival of your cruise, our assistant will welcome you, identified with the Shore2Shore sign.

From the port of Warnemünde or Wismar, we will begin an approximately three-hour journey to Berlin, the capital of Germany, where our local guide will be waiting for us. This will be a unique opportunity to learn about the vibrant history and modern transformation of the city.

We will start our tour by reliving Prussian history upon arriving at the Charlottenburg Palace, a magnificent example of the opulence of the Prussian monarchy.

From here, we will explore Berlin’s famous avenues, such as Kurfürstendamm and Unter den Linden, which have witnessed countless changes throughout the centuries. As we proceed, we will review German political history, making a stop in front of the Reichstag, the German Parliament, where flags fly as a symbol of the unity and democracy that characterize Germany today.

Our tour will take us to Berlin’s most emblematic sites, including the Wall, where we will pause to reflect on the city’s division during the Cold War. Only 30 years ago, this was a point of conflict, and what today is a symbol of reunification was once a deadly border between West Berlin and East Berlin.

Throughout the visit, we will relive all the eras that marked Berlin’s history: the grandeur of imperial Prussia, the horror of National Socialism and World War II, the communist era and the city’s division, as well as Berlin’s transformation into the modern city we know today.

Berlin is also famous for its multicultural neighborhoods, legendary nightlife, colorful bars, and urban stories that give the city a unique atmosphere.

Our panoramic city tour will offer a comprehensive view of the three major historical periods that have defined Berlin, as well as the most current and modern, vibrant, and dynamic Berlin.

During the visit, we will pass by several of the city’s most iconic places. We will go by Berlin City Hall, Alexanderplatz, the imposing Karl-Marx-Allee, and the East Side Gallery, a section of the Berlin Wall that is now an open-air gallery of contemporary art.

We will also visit the Nikolaiviertel neighborhood, Museum Island, and the historic Unter den Linden Avenue.

In front of Bebelplatz, where the Nazi regime carried out the book burnings, we will have a moment to reflect on the city’s recent history.

The Catholic Cathedral of St. Hedwig, Gendarmenmarkt, and the famous Friedrichstraße will also be part of our tour, as well as Checkpoint Charlie, the emblematic border crossing between the two Germanys.

We will continue to the Holocaust Memorial area, Potsdamer Platz, Brandenburg Gate, Pariser Platz, and the Reichstag.

The Victory Column (Siegessäule), an important symbol of Prussian victory in the 19th-century wars, will not be missed. Additionally, we will pass by the embassy district, the Berlin Philharmonic, the famous Kurfürstendamm Avenue, KaDeWe (the largest department store in Europe), and the Memorial Church, which was partially destroyed during World War II.

We will also visit the Berlin Zoo, Charlottenburg Palace, and Bellevue Palace, as well as the House of World Cultures, an important cultural center in the city.

We will see the Government District, where the German Chancellery and the central train station, Hauptbahnhof, are located—an example of Berlin’s modernity.

At the end of the tour, you will have free time in Berlin’s shopping area, especially in the Jewish quarter, where you can shop and explore its stores and cafés. This time will be perfect to immerse yourself in the city’s unique atmosphere.

After the excursion, we will return to the port for farewell, having explored the fascinating history and vibrant current life of Berlin.
