What you'll do

Upon your cruise arrival, our assistant will welcome you, identified by the Shore2Shore sign.

From the port of Warnemünde or Wismar, we will begin a journey of approximately three hours towards Berlin, the capital of Germany, where our local guide will be waiting. This will be a unique opportunity to discover the vibrant history and modern transformation of the city.

We will start our tour reliving Prussian history upon arrival at Charlottenburg Palace, a magnificent example of the opulence of the Prussian monarchy.

From here, we will explore Berlin’s famous avenues, such as Kurfürstendamm and Unter den Linden, which have witnessed countless changes over the centuries. As we move along, we’ll review German political history, stopping in front of the Reichstag, the German Parliament, where the flags wave as a symbol of unity and democracy.

Our route will take us to Berlin’s most iconic landmarks, including the Berlin Wall, where we’ll pause to reflect on the division of the city during the Cold War. Only 30 years ago, this was a point of conflict, and what is now a symbol of reunification once stood as a deadly border between West Berlin and East Berlin.

Throughout the visit, we will revisit the eras that marked Berlin’s history: the grandeur of Imperial Prussia, the horror of Nazism and World War II, the communist era and the city’s division, as well as Berlin’s transformation into the modern metropolis we know today.

Berlin is also famous for its multicultural neighbourhoods, legendary nightlife, colourful bars, and urban stories that give the city its unique atmosphere.

Our panoramic city tour will offer a complete overview of the three great historical eras that defined Berlin, as well as today’s modern, vibrant, and dynamic city.

During the visit, we will see several of the city’s most emblematic landmarks: the Berlin City Hall, Alexanderplatz, the impressive Karl-Marx-Allee, and the East Side Gallery, a section of the Berlin Wall now turned into an open-air gallery of contemporary art.

We will also visit the Nikolaiviertel district, the Museum Island, and the historic Unter den Linden avenue.

In front of Bebelplatz, where the Nazi regime burned books, we will take a moment to reflect on the city’s recent history.

The St. Hedwig’s Cathedral, the Gendarmenmarkt Square, and the famous Friedrichstraße will also be part of our itinerary, as well as Checkpoint Charlie, the iconic border crossing between East and West Germany.

We’ll continue towards the Holocaust Memorial, Potsdamer Platz, the Brandenburg Gate, Pariser Platz, and the Reichstag.

We won’t miss the Victory Column (Siegessäule), an important symbol of Prussian victories in the 19th century. We’ll also pass by the embassy district, the Berlin Philharmonic, the famous Kurfürstendamm Avenue, the KaDeWe (the largest department store in Europe), and the Kaiser Wilhelm Memorial Church, partially destroyed during World War II.

We will also visit the Berlin Zoo, Charlottenburg Palace, and Bellevue Palace, as well as the Haus der Kulturen der Welt (House of World Cultures), an important cultural centre in the city.

We’ll see the Government District, home to the German Chancellery and the Berlin Central Station (Hauptbahnhof), a symbol of the city’s modernity.

At the end of the tour, you will have some free time in Berlin’s shopping area, especially in the Jewish Quarter, where you can shop and explore its stores and cafés — the perfect time to enjoy the city’s unique atmosphere.

After the excursion, we’ll return to the port, having experienced Berlin’s fascinating history and vibrant life.
