Mont Saint Michel
Shore excursion from port of Le Havre, France
- Duration 11h
- Activity level low
What you'll do
Upon arrival of your cruise, the guide will be waiting for you at the port, identified with the Shore2Shore sign.
We will head towards Mont Saint Michel and its sacred sites. On board the bus, the guide will tell us the fascinating history of Normandy.
After about two and a half hours on the road, we will arrive at Mont Saint Michel. We will get off our bus in the parking lot and take a shuttle bus that will bring us closer to the Mont. We will walk about three hundred meters surrounded by a panorama of water and sand until we reach the village of Mont Saint Michel, which we will enter through the only entrance gate. We begin our visit to the majestic Abbey, built on top of the mount more than 1000 years ago in honor of the Archangel Saint Michael.
We will have free time to have lunch or we can stroll through the streets of the charming village of the Mount, where only about 30 people currently reside. We can try the famous omelette from La Mère Poulard or have lunch in one of the many breweries or crêperies (the crêpe is the local specialty along with cider!).
Mont Saint Michel is undoubtedly the emblematic place of Normandy, and due to its incredible beauty, it should be considered, in the opinion of the Normans, as the seventh wonder of the world.
At the end of the excursion, return to the port and farewell.
