What you'll do

Pickup at the Ain Sokhna port by our guide holding the Shore2Shore sign. We will head towards Zafarana, approximately an hour and a half from the Ain Sokhna port.

Today we will have the great privilege of visiting the beautiful monastery of Saint Anthony the Great, whose beauty lies not only in the splendor of its architecture and paintings but also in the fact that we are treading on a sacred place, so without fear of being wrong, we can say that we are in a little piece of Heaven on Earth.

Saint Anthony, also known as Anthony the Great, was an Egyptian Christian who lived from 241 to 356 A.D. in a cave on a mountain 680 meters high. He is considered the father of monasticism and was also one of the Desert Fathers, hermits and ascetics who lived in the desert.

This monastery was built by the followers of Saint Anthony in the year 356 A.D. near the cave where he died at the age of 105. The place has changed little since then, and the interior of the church was enriched in the 13th century with magnificent frescoes.

Our guide will accompany us on a tour of this sacred place. The enormous monastery of Saint Anthony is surrounded by a huge wall, where monks and an abbot live; a staircase of about 1,000 steps leads us up to the cave.

All visitors describe this experience as magical and a source of inner peace.

After visiting this gem, we will return to the port by coach through picturesque landscapes.
