Walking tour of Korcula

Shore excursion from port of Korcula, Croatia

  • Duration 1h 30min
  • Activity level medium

What you'll do

Meeting with our guide holding the Shore2Shore sign at the port of Korčula.

The ship docks right in the heart of the city, and it is from there that we will begin our tour.

The old town of Korčula is a masterpiece of architecture and urban planning; the layout of the city’s streets resembles a fishbone and was designed in this way to make the most of the different winds, helping to cleanse the air — a kind of natural air-conditioning system.

Our walk will include a visit to St. Mark’s Cathedral, probably the finest example of the craftsmanship of Korčula’s famous stonemasons and the island’s excellent stone, which has been used in buildings all over the world.

We will then continue with our guide to the Bishop’s Palace, where we will discover the city’s hidden treasures, including sketches and drawings by Leonardo da Vinci, Michelangelo, Raphael, Tiepolo, and many others.

Our next stop will be the charming Church of All Saints, which houses an impressive collection of Byzantine icons. We will visit its interior.

The city of Korčula is also known as the birthplace of Marco Polo, whose supposed house of birth can be seen from the outside.

After the walking tour, our guide will accompany us to the famous local bakery Cukarin, where we will have the opportunity to taste homemade local cookies and enjoy a refreshing drink (not included in the price).

We will then return to the port for farewell or you may choose to continue exploring the city on your own.
