- Duration 1h 30min
- Activity level medium
What you'll do
Pick-up by our guide holding the Shore2Shore sign at the port of Korcula.
The boat docks right in the city center, and it is from there that we will start our tour.
The old town of Korčula is a masterpiece of architecture and urban planning; the layout of the city streets resembles a fishbone and was designed this way to take advantage of the different winds, to cleanse the air, somewhat like a natural air conditioning system.
Our walk will include a visit to the Cathedral of St. Mark, which is probably the best testament to the art of the famous Korcula stonemasons and the excellent stone from the island, which has been used in buildings around the world.
We will continue walking accompanied by our guide who will take us to visit the Bishop’s Palace, where we will discover the hidden treasures of the city such as some sketches and drawings by Leonardo da Vinci, Michelangelo, Raphael, Tiepolo, and many others.
We will proceed to the charming Church of All Saints, which contains an impressive collection of Byzantine icons. We will visit its interior.
The city of Korcula is also known as the birthplace of Marco Polo, whose supposed birth house can be seen from the outside.
After the walking tour, our guide will accompany us to the famous local bakery called Cukarin, where we will have the opportunity to taste homemade local cookies and refresh ourselves with a drink (not included in the price).
We will return to the port for farewell or we can continue strolling around the city on our own.
